Wizi Bank — Bank Account Basics | wizi-bank.com
An ordered checklist from comparing APY and fees to deposit insurance and the documents needed at opening.
Step one is comparing APY. Because APY already includes compounding, the figures from different banks are directly comparable, and a high-yield savings account typically earns about 10 times more interest than a standard savings account.
Step two is reading the published fee schedule. Monthly maintenance, overdraft, out-of-network ATM and wire transfer fees all come off the gross interest, so the net result depends as much on charges as on the rate.
Step three is checking the opening deposit. Many banks ask for an opening deposit of 0 to 100 USD for a basic savings account, and the first deposit confirms that the account is active.

Step four is confirming deposit insurance. In the United States, FDIC deposit insurance covers up to 250,000 USD per depositor per insured bank, applied separately at each insured bank, so totals above the cap should be spread across institutions.
Step five is preparing identity documents and proof of address, which banks request at account opening; the exact list varies by bank but the sequence of compare, read fees, fund, insure and verify does not.
Step six is verifying the first transaction and confirming that interest accrues as quoted. If the money is meant to sit, note whether the account limits convenient withdrawals per month, because that limit shapes how easily you can reach the balance later.
